What do group interviews involve?
A number of people being interviewed at the same time
Strength of group interviews: comfortability
Participants may feel more comfortable being with others which may cause them to be more likely to open up
Strength of group interviews: stimulation of thinking
Participants often throw ideas around in discussion which stimulates others thinking. Produces richer, more reflective data
Strength of group interviews: ability of researchers
Allows researcher to question and observe group dynamics and norms
Limitation of group interviews: certain individuals
They may dominate the discussion which limits the contribution from others

Richness of data depends on researchers ability to keep group focused on discussion topic
