What were the causes and effects of the War of 1812?

A

The cause is that the U.S.A. was trying to get out of impressment under Britain because trading with Europe was essential to the US’ success. And since the British blocked US trade with Europe through impressment and seizing ships, the US wanted to gain control of Canada. But the British attacked, burning Washington DC to the ground. The effect was that the U.S.A. became a very powerful country.

The Convention of 1818 allowed peace between the British and Russia to be able to control Oregon Territory. And the boundary gets set with Canada. Adams-Onis treaty basically said that US got control over Spain.

Some characteristics were farming and slaves. Nat Turner was able to show the North how bad Slavery was, causing the North to interfere in to fight against slavery which later led to the civil war.

A

The battle between the US (led by Harrison) and British (Led by Tecomseh). British are outnumbered 3-1. Located in Canada. When the US attacked, the British retreated but Tecomcah stayed and dies. No strong native tribes existed except for Cherokee.

A

Jackson led the US (20,000 men, cannons) to fight Creek Indians (1000 men) Every fighting male in the Creek Indians fight Jackson. 150 of Jackson’s men are killed while 800 Creek Men are killed. Jackson killed that place and takes all the dead bodies’ skin for other uses.
