Cosmopolitan
A person who is familiar with and at ease in many different countries and cultures, often holding a worldview that embraces diversity and global citizenship.
Bilingualism
The ability to speak two languages fluently, or a policy that supports the use of two languages in public and private life.
Alienation
A feeling of disconnection or estrangement from others or society, often experienced when individuals feel they don’t belong or are isolated.

A Canadian television sitcom that aired from 2007 to 2012, which portrayed the lives of Muslim Canadians living in a small town and addressed issues of integration, diversity, and multiculturalism.
Multiculturalism
A social policy or practice that encourages the recognition and appreciation of diverse cultural backgrounds within a society, promoting cultural diversity and inclusiveness.

Individuals or groups that prioritize domestic economic interests and policies that protect local industries, resources, and jobs from foreign influence or competition.

Aboriginal Land Claims
Legal and political claims made by Indigenous peoples regarding their historical ownership and rights to land that has been taken or occupied by non-Indigenous people or governments.
Consensus
General agreement or collective opinion among a group or society on a particular issue, often achieved through discussion and compromise.
Assimilation
The process by which individuals or groups from one culture are absorbed into and adopt the customs, values, and practices of another dominant culture.
Quotas
Specific numerical limits or targets imposed on certain groups, such as the number of immigrants, students, or employees from a particular background, to ensure diversity or fairness.
National unity
The sense of collective identity, solidarity, and agreement among citizens of a country, often in the context of overcoming regional, ethnic, or political divisions.
Unification
The process of combining or bringing together separate entities, often referring to the political, cultural, or social integration of different regions, groups, or countries.
Bilingual
