Social Globalization
The process by which people’s lifestyle spread over international networks
Political Globalization
The process by which government decisions and actions are becoming increasingly influenced by international events

The West
Countries in Western Europe or countries that were colonized by Western European Nations and adopted the same values and traditions
Linguistic Rights/Law
Legislation passes by a government to protect the culture of a linguistic minority (ex. In Canada - Francophones)
Ideological Beliefs
beliefs about society, politics, economics, and citizenship
cultural content and legilslation
Laws passed by government to prevent a group’s cultural identity from being overwhelmed by the media of a more dominant culture
Culture revitalization
the process of affirming and promoting people’s individual and collective identity
Outsourcing
A business strategy that involves reducing costs by using suppliers of products and services in countries where labour is cheaper and government regulations are less strict.
Transnational Corperation
A company based in one country while developing and manufacturing its products or delivering its goods and services in more than one country.
Globalization of Pop Culture
People have a greater access to a wider variety of programming

to give new life to cultural traditions
Affirmation of identity
to celebrate cultural differences that are part of your identity
Integration
similar to acculturation, but includes keeping one’s own traditions while accepting new cultural practices
cultural appropriation
stealing from another culture, disrespecting their culture when using it
cultural appreciation
when you earnestly seek to learn about or explore a different culture. You learn. You listen. You Strive to understand. You seek to honour its beliefs and traditions.
