Ulna Flashcards
What is Olecranon process?
Most proximal part of the bone (proximal part of the hook)
Attahcment site for lexor carpi ulnaris muscle, Triceps brachii muscle and Anconeus muscle
What is the insertion site of the Anconeus Muscle
Lateral surface of the olecranon process and posterior surface of the ulna
What is the action done by the Anconeus Muscle?
Assists the triceps brachii in extension
What is the Trchlear notch in the Ulna?
- Articular surface found at the end of the ulna (notch in the hook)
- Articulates with the trochlea of the humerus
What is the Coronoid process?
Anterior beak shaped, projection at the base of the trochlear notch
Attachment site for Flexor digitorum superficialis muscle and Pronator teres muscle
What is the Ulnar tuberosity?
Roughened depression found immediately inferior to the cornoid process
Attachment site for the Brachialis muscle
What is the Radial notch?
Small articular surface found on the lateral border of the coronoid process
Attachment site for Superiator muscle
What is the shaft?
Long segment of bone between the ulnar tuberosity and distal end of the ulna
Attachment site for flexor digitorum profundus
What is the Pronator ridge?
Ridge foudn on the distal most quarter of the ulna
Attachment site for pronator quadratus muscle
What is the origin site of the Pronator quadratus muscle?
Pronator ridge of the ulna (distal 1/2)
What is the action of the pronator quadratus muscle?
Pronates the forearm
What is the Ulna the attachment site for?
Supinator muscle
