De-colonization, International Borders & Conflict
A
- Britain and France exited their colonies and countries were gaining their independence, the borders of these new nation states were created
- Africa and middle east, national borders cut ethic and religious groups apart. Some counties were ‘artificial’ in the sense that they became a new country and collection of people that did not exist before.
- People in these new countries did not always get along well together inside their countries or with their neighbours

Immigration into Canada
A
- Canadians are not reproducing enough to sustain the population
- If immigration was stopped, the population would shrink
- structure of our system, Government/Business relies on growth
- Larger tax base, improved sales, improved profit year over year
- Canada has a points system for immigration, educated, language skills, required skills need in the country and $, to name several criteria, score the highest and are granted entry
- Canada is able to bring in people with brains, skills & $ to keep the country going and to improve it
- controversial
- major parties support immigration, but may take a different stance publicly
