Q

Alternative methods of feeding

A
  • BARF: biologically appropriate raw food

RMBD: raw meat based diet

  • Vegan
17
Q

BARF/ RMBD advantages and disadvantages

A

advantages: incr digestibility because the enzymes not lost during cooking

Incr immune function

Disadvantages:

  • Nutrient imbalances: Vit A+E, Ca:P, too high vit D and fat
  • Pathogens
  • PErforation of bones
18
Q

Vegan

A

Problem: urinary tract infections- could treat by acidifying the urine with cranberry extract

Should consider supplementing: digestive enzyme products and synth taurine
