Q

Describe DRA

A

Direct Route Airspace is airspace wherre ATS routes are removed at levels indicated in AIP in order to facilitate Free Route Airspace operations.

Allows direct routing between specific points with fuel savings and environmental benefit by reducing CO2 emissions.

17
Q

What is TRA?

A

Temporary Reserved Area

18
Q

Describe TRA

A

A Temporary Reserved Area is a defined volume of airspace normally under the jurisdiction of one aviation authority and temporarily reserved, by common agreement, for the specific use by another aviation authority and through which other traffic may be allowed to transit, under ATC clearance.

19
Q

What is TSA?

A

Temporary Segregated Area

20
Q

Describe TSA

A

A Temporary Segregated Area Is a defined volume of airspace normally under the jurisdiction of one aviation authority and temporarily segregated, by common agreement, for the exclusive use by another aviation authority and through which other traffic will not be allowed to transit.

21
Q

What is RMZ?

A

Radio Mandatory Zone

22
Q

Describe RMZ

A

Airspace of defined dimensions wherein the carriage and operation of radio equipment is mandatory.

Flights shall establish two-way communication before entering the RMZ and maintain a continuous air-ground voice communication watch, as necessary, on the appropriate frequency, unless complying with alternate provisions.

Two-way comms are considered to be achieved when the following have been passed; callsign, type, position, level, Flight rules, and the intentions and has received acknowledgement from ATC

23
Q

What is TMZ?

A

Transponder Mandatory Zone

24
Q

Describe a TMZ?

A

A TMZ is airspace of defined dimensions within which aircraft are required to carry and operate a Mode S SSR transponder unless complying with alternate provisions.
