Anticoagulants will be d/c prior

Catheter?
A
- Urinary catheter with retention balloon
- traction via taping
*may feel uncomfortable

Post-op for TURP:
Why is there traction connected to catheter?
A
to maintain constant tension on bladder
**this may make pt feel an uncomfortable urge to urinate

bladder irrigation
A
This will be done continuously using a THREE WAY catheter

Complication of continuous bladder irrigation?
A
- BLEEDING (watch Hct/Hgb)
- Bladder spasms

fluid intake
A
increase to 2000 to 2500 mL daily

What does a fluid intake increase helps with?
A
dysuria and helps keep urine clear

Risk factors of Cervical cancer?
A
- HPV infection
- Genital herpes
- Smoking
- Girls in late teens-mid 30’s
- Race: Black, Hispanic, American indian
- Use of oral contraceptives
