What are the ways to diagnose malaria
- Clinically e.g if there are high risks in the area such as Africa
- Parasitological:
Light microscope of the blood films
Rapid diagnostic test of plasmodium proteins
PCR for plasmodium genes
What is the treatment of malaria if uncomplicated
Artemether combined with an approved second agent
What is the treatment for complicated malaria
IV artesunate
What are the features of a dengue fever
Fever Headache Break bone disease Blanching rash Low platelets, lymphopaenia
How is dengue fever diagnosed
Clinically
Serology
PCR
