A

Long term pain disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve

Trigeminal nerve:
V1- ophthalmic
V2- maxillary
V3- mandibular

A

Cause is unclear but it is thought to be caused by compression of the nerve

Usually triggered by touch to one of the trigeminal zones:
Washing
Shaving
Cold wind
Chewing

A

90% unilateral
Severe stabbing unilateral pain (electric shooting pain)
1- 90 seconds
10 to 100 a day
Bouts of pain may last from a few weeks to months before spontaneous remission
