What do you ask a person who is reporting trespassers?

A

Ask for the reporting train’s headcode (if reported to you by train)
Location of trespassers.
Are the trespassers lineside or on/near the line?
Are the trespassers moving - if so, in which direction?
Do they appear to be endangering trains?
Description of the trespassers?

Then call Control and pass the report to them.

What are your immediate actions on receiving a report of trespassers who are on/near the line, or who are lineside and moving towards the line?

A

Stop each train that would proceed over this area.

Tell the driver what is happening and to proceed at caution past the location.

Tell the driver to proceed at no greater than 10MPH through any affected tunnel.

Do not allow any more than one train at a time through any affected tunnel.

If the entrance to the affected section is controlled by the signaller in advance, you must tell them.

When must you arrange for the line to be cleared in relation to minor obstacles, animals etc?

A

If minor obstacles are on the line,

if animals are likely to cause an obstruction,

if a cow, bull or other large animal is within the boundary fence.

You do not need to examine the line for minor obstacles/animals that might be causing an obstruction, but you must:
