Direct Communication is available between with any other signaller concerned, and you have reached a clear understanding with them of what is to happen.

You have made sure single-line section is clear.

The responsible person (as shown in the SBSI) has personally given you and other signallers concerned, the authority to use Modified Working for that train.

Once Modified Working has been authorised by the responsible person, what details do you record, and where?

Name of the responsible person.
Time that authority was given for that train.

• in the TRB or Occurrence Book.

What do you need to tell the driver before allowing them to enter the single-line section under Modified Working?

What is happening

Dictate or give them a completed RT3177 form

Tell the driver to stop at the end of the single-line section , if necessary.

Pass the signal protecting the entrance to the single-line section at danger

Under Modified Working, what must you record in the TRB, even if you normally would not?

How do you communicate that train has entered the single-line section under Modified Working, even if you would not normally do so under normal circumstances?
