What did France want from the Treaty?
To cripple Germany’s economy and break up Germany with harsh terms.
What did Britain want from the Treaty?
Wanted less harsh treatment so that they can still have the ability to trade with them.
What were the 4 main terms of the Treaty?
- War Guilt Clause
- Limits of Armed Forces
- Land Taken Back
- Setup League of Nations
What did the War Guilt clause include?
Blame of the War was on Germany and they were responsible for the cost e.g £6.6bn repertations.
What did the Armed Forces limitations include?
100,000 Soldiers
No submarines/boats
Limited tanks etc.
What did Right Wing Germans feel about Armed Force limitaitions?
Embarrassed and Angry
What did the Land terms of the Treaty include?
- Dividing up German Colonies
- Alsace-Lorene given to France
- De-militarizing the Rhineland
- Self Determination, breaking up of Austria Hungry.
Who wanted setup the LON?
Woodrow Wilson, wanted it to be based in the US and to be used to keep peace in Europe.
How did German feel about the terms?
They felt inferior to rest of Europe, felt they lost many rights in Europe.
German Veterans felt as if they were stabbed in the back by Government for the TOV.
