Who were the two main parties during 18th Century Britain?
Whigs and Tories
What did the Whigs stand for?
Opposed the power of the king, believed in power of parliament, anti - slavery and believed in more power to the people.
What did the Tories stand for?
Mainly supported the king and main focus was on land owning people, Church of England supports and supposedly supported workers rights.
Who was Pitt the Younger?
The prime minster between 1783-1801 then 1804-1806.
He was from a Whig family, however was known as a ‘new tory’. He saw himself as an ‘Independent Whig’.
What issues did he have to focus on?

Who supported Pitt?
Tories, King Support, Whigs as they saw him less radical and he was incorruptible.
