A

Frost was arrested and imprisoned 6 months in 1793 for ‘sedition’

Hardy was prosecuted for Treason 1794, after trail found not guilty.

What did people think about the French Revolution?

A

People were not sympathetic to the FR, after King Louis XVI was arrested in June 1791.

Many conservatives were angry with the liberal M/C, felt it was threatening to King and Anglican Church.

What happened in the Royal Hotel, Birmingham 1791?

A

A mob gathered outside, they attacked with stones then looted the hotel. They then turned on non-Anglican churches burnt them down.

Similar pro-monarchy, anti-radical protest in London - however they generally avoided prosecution.
