What were the Corn Laws?
In 1815,
Banned imports foreign grain, lead to high British corn and artificially high bread prices for the poor.
It was not repealed until 1846.

How did Spa Field Riots originate?
Revolutionary Spencens, led by radical Thomas Spence, who invited radical speaker Henry Hunt.
What happened during Spa Field Riots?
1st meet was peaceful and 2nd meet hunt arrived and lead a section away, the rioters looted a gunsmith.
They fought with troops, they did not hand over the tower of London and the rioters stopped.
Who were the 4 leaders of the Spa Field Riots and what happened to them?
John Hooper, Thomas Preston, Arthur Thisttewood and James Walkins were arrested for high treason.
They were let off due to dodgy evidence from spies.

The Pentridge Rising 1817
What happened in the Pentridge Rising 1817?
200-300 stockingers, quarry-men and workers led by Jeremiah Brandreth with a list of political demands.
Armed with pikes and a few guns, a government spy in the group so uprising stopped quickly.
What happened to Jeremiah Brandreth?
Him and 3 others were hung.
How did the Peterloo start?
16th August 1819, Henry Hunt, Richard Carlic and Major Cartwright invited to speak, they were at one of the largest meetings (radical).
What happened at Peterloo?
Around 50,000 people attended, Hulton send police to clear area and Hultun then decided the crowd was ‘too dangerous’ and he sent the cavalry into the crowd.
Calvary began to use sabres to reach the leaders and cut through banners of the crowd, this was pecieved as an insult by Hultun.
What happened to the end of Peterloo?
12-18 people were killed and the government supported Hulton after Peterloo.
What did Lord Liverpool do in responses to Peterloo?
He released the Six Acts.

In reaction to 6 acts, a plot to murder Lord Liverpool and Cabinet minister, there was a police informer.
13 were arrested, while 1 policeman was killed.
