Translation Flashcards
Translation 1/7
translation occurs on the cytoplasm of the cell, two codons on the mRNA are exposed by the ribsome at a time
Translation 2/7
tRNA brings AA to the ribosome
the tRNA molecule has a binding site made up of 3 bases which are specific to a particualr AA
Translation 3/7
the tRNA molecule has 3 exposed bases called an anti codon this is complementary to the codon on the mRNA strand
Translation 4/7
temp h+ bonds from between the codon and anti codon
Translation 5/7
as the 2 AA are brought close to one another by adjacent tRNAa peptide bond forms between them ATP is requried
Translation 5/7
eventrually a stop codon is reached on the mRNA strand which signals the end of the poypeptide which is then released
Translation 6 /7
the pp can then fold into its 3D shape with the help of ribsomal prteins
Transaltion 7/7
tRNA molecules are released as the ribosome moves along the mRNA strand they are free to pick antoher AA from the cytoplasm
