Q

Role of hormones

A

Hormones are secreted by endocrine glands to regulate and maintain bodily functions

Most often release of hormones occur in short burst however some are released over a longer period of time to stimulate permanent change

Q

How are circulating hormones regulated

A

They are controlled by complex feedback mechanisms which can be influenced by

Signals from nervous system, chemical changes in the blood and other hormones like Growth Hormone

Q

Relationship between the Pituitary Gland and Hypothalamus

A

Hypothalamus and Pituitary gland together responsible for homeostasis.

The hypothalamus is in control of the Pituitary Gland

Neurohormones- From the hypothalamus influence the Pituitary Gland stimulating the gland to work. Also nerve impulses from the hypothalamus.

The Pituitary Gland secretes hormones such as ADH that help regulate body functions
