Topic 4 - Making Soluble Salts (Paper 2) Flashcards
1
Q
how can you make soluble salts?
A
reacting an acid with an alkali
2
Q
why do you need an exact amount of alkali to neutralise the acid?
A
you cant tell if the reaction is finished
you cant add an excess of acid to the alkali, because it would contaminate the salt
3
Q
how would you make soluble salts?
A
do a titration to find out the right amount of alkali and acid
carry out the reaction with the same volumes but with no indicator
the solution remaining has the salt and water
evaporate off the water
