topic 32 Flashcards
general canine penis
musculocavernous type, where the blood spaces are much larger
In Ca, the distal end of the cavernous body is modified to form the os penis, with its ventral groove, which accommodates the urethra within the spongy body.
muscles of the penis(se FC)
M. retractor penis
M. ischiocavernosusIschiadic
M. bulbospongiosus
(M. ischiourethralis)
radix penis
2*crus( corpus cavernosus) with m. ischiocavernosus covering them
m. bulbospongiosus forming the bulb
(corpus spongiosum around urethra)
corpus penis
- 2* corpus cavernusus with septum btw
- corpus attach to os penis ventrally
(corpus spongiosum around urethra)
glans penis
pars bulbus glandis
- thickening forms “lock”
pars longus glandis
- rest of penis after bulbus glandis
(corpus spongiosum around urethra)
blood supply of penis
a. penis ex pudenda interna
- perinealis ventralis (caudually)
- bulbus penis(dist) and profunda penis(prox) go inside
- dorsalis penis
a. pudenda externa
- r. preputialis to preputium (we se supf dors on penis)
- r. scrotalis ventralis (to scrotum)
innervation of penis
from the lumbar and sacral plexuses:
- Paired pelvic (paraymp.)
- pudendal (mixed) nerves
Hypogastric nerves (symp.)from pelvic plexus for ejaculation and prostatic secretion
prepuce
external lamina: outer hairy part
internal lamina: internal part, O: greatest diameter of bulbus glandis, ends at fornix where it is continour with skin of glans
the two meet at the tip - forming the ostium preputiale
The area between the internal lamina and the skin of the glans is called the
preputial cavity
a cutaneous trunk muscle, making sure the prepuce is drawn back over the glans in a flaccid state. They relax during erection.
M. protractor preputii
innervation of prepuce
N. penis dorsalis -> rr. preputiales (from the n. pudenda)
N. genitofemoralis -> rr. cutaneus lateralis
blood supply of prepuce
A. penis dorsalis(anastamosing branches)
A. pudenda externa -> A. epigastrica superficialis caudalis
A. bulbi penis
layers of scrotum
- fascia spermatica int
- fascia sperm ext
- t. dartos
- cutis scroti (skin)
