topic 20 Flashcards
what is the blood supply of the stifle joint
r. genus descendens, a. genus media, a. genus distalis lat+med
how to dissect stifle - before cutting into joint capsule
LATERAL SIDE!
1 - Remove fascia lata around joint
2 - Cut circle around retinaculum patellae and cut lig. Patellare with it and reflect fibrocartilago parapatellae
3 - show corpus adiposum (and bursa infrapatellare)
O: patella
I: fascia lata
A: keep patella in place
what is a good way to get into the joint capsule
locate lig. Femoropatellare laterale (to flabella/SB of m. gastrocn.), and cut parallell to it to get into joint capsule
after getting into the joint capsule, what is the first ligament to transect, and what do you show and transect next?
Cut lig. Collatterale medial
then show:
- lig collaterale
- Tendon of m. ext. dig. Longus: cut with some muscle, see tendon sheet
- See rec. suprapatellare
- Transect collat lat carefully to see m. popliteus crossing under the ligament – remove some capsule to see better
in what order do you show and cut the ligaments attached to the menisci:
- show lig. transversus genus
- Show lig meniscotibiale cran M
(Cant really see but grab with fourceps where you know they are and cut! Do this with all of them)
- Lig. Meniscotibiale cran L
(here cut M/L along joint capsule to see better) - Show cranial and caudal cruciate ligaments
- lig Meniscotibiale caud M
- lig meniscotibiale caud L
- lig. Meniscofemoralis
where can you find lig. meniscofemorale
from the lateral meniscus to femur
what is the origin and insertion of the cruciate ligaments
cran: inner surf of L condyle on femur to area intercondylare centralis tibiae
caud: inner surf of M condyle on femur to area intercondylare caudale tibiae
what do you need to remember when seperating the 4 parts of the quadriceps femoris
Separate the vastus proximally bc. They fuse further distally
why do the articulation btw tibia and femur need meniscus
the surfaces are incongruent (- dont match eachother)
how many cartilages does the fibrocartilago parapattelae consist of
3: M, L and prox
what is the function of the corpus adiposum
shock absorbant
the menisci also have this function
what are the collateral ligaments attached to btw the O and I
M: to meniscus
L: to rec. popliteus
the tendon of m. rectus femoris is also reffered to as a ligament, what is this ligament called and where does it insert
tuberositas tibiae
lig. patellae
aka straight patellar ligament
what is the blood supply for the quadriceps femoris muscle
a. circumflexa femoris lateralis
what is the blood supply for the popliteal muscle
a. popliteus
a. dist fem caud
