-courses medial side of arm with brachial artery
-at elbow continues under aponeurosis of biceps, arises b/w 2 heads of pronator teres
-gives ant. brachial interosseus branch
-arise in 4am b/w flexor digitorym superficialis & profondus
-goes towards wrist under flexor retinaculum it enter carpal tunel
-towards the palm it gives of its terminak branches that supply mot thenar muscles
innervation
motor innervatioon to pronator teres, flexor digitorum profondus & superficialis and most thenar muscles
functional loss
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome: Compression of the median nerve at the wrist due to inflammation or swelling of the carpal tunnel.
Sensory Loss:
-Loss of Sensation: Decreased or absent sensation in the palm of the hand, thumb, index finger, middle finger, and half of the ring finger.
-Impaired Discriminative Touch: Difficulty distinguishing between different textures or objects.
Functional Impairments:
-Grip Strength: Reduced ability to grip objects firmly due to weakness in the thumb and fingers.
-Loss of Dexterity: Reduced ability to perform intricate movements involving the fingers.
-Clumsiness: Difficulty coordinating movements of the hand and fingers.
