Cell division - mitosis
Cell differentiation - when an unspecialised cell becomes specialised

  • cell elongation (each cell gets longer)
  • cell differentiation ( an unspecialised cell becomes specialised)

What is cell differentiation?

A

Occurs as organisms develop and the cell changes to become specialised. As the cell differentiates it forms new sub cellular structures eg. Tail on a sperm cell or the hairs on a root cell
