- Criminal history that includes violent crimes or crimes against government order is automatic disqualifier.
- Any warrants
- impaired by drugs or alcohol
- If person has other criminal history, LT or watch commander decides on case-by-case basis.
If a ride-along request has a criminal history and is approved to ride, who must present the officer with the ride-along’s criminal history?
Lt will inform the assigned officer. The assigned officer may refuse based on the information.
How long will ride-along requests be retained?
Current year plus 3
Who may issue a conditional approval for a ride-along request when the form comes in?
Precinct captain
Who will run a warrant and NCIC check for ride-along requests?
Sergeant.
Who can cancel or reschedule a ride along based on staffing levels or other circumstances?
