Hardwood trees are deciduous and generally slower growing than softwoods which are ever green

it dries it making it stronger and less likely to rot or warp

How can you ‘finish’ woods

why are hardwoods generally more expensive than softwoods
they take longer to grow and are of a higher quality
suggest why you may use a clear varnish to finish a piece of oak rather than a paint
because like many hardwoods, oak has an attractive colour and grain that if painted would be covered up.
