what is Scheurmann’s (Kyphosis) Disease?
a condition that affects the spine, causing it to curve abnormally, typically in the upper back
what happens to the vertebrae in Scheurmann’s (Kyphosis) Disease?
the vertebrae grow unevenly, making them wedged-shaped rather than rectangular
what does the ankylosing spondylitis affect?
affects the axial skeleton
what type of disorder is ankylosing spondylitis?
a chronic inflammatory disorder
what is thoracic osteoporosis?
a condition where the bones in the middle part of the spine become weak and brittle
what is thoracic outlet syndrome?
occurs when nerves or blood vessels are compressed by the rib, collarbone or neck muscles at the top of the outlet
what are the symptoms of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome?
- vague aching in the neck, shoulders and hands
- UL pain, weakness, numbness aggravated by elevation of arm
-Clumsiness/weakness of hands
what is T4 syndrome?
a diagnosis of exclusion when all other diagnosis do not fit the clinical pattern
what are symptoms of T4 syndrome?
- UL Paraesthia
- Weakness
- Reduced thoracic movement
- Tenderness on palpation of T4 vertebrae
- Hands feeling hot, cold or swollen
