Theory of Planned Behaviour Flashcards
What does this theory propose?
People tend to do exactly what they plan to, and this applies to health
What are the three key sources?
Personal attitudes, Subjective norms and Perceive Behaviour Control
What are Personal Attitudes?
The degree to which someone has a positive or negative view of something, depends on how likely they are to do it
What are Subjective Norms?
One’s personal beliefs about what significant others think of their behaviour and actions, depends on how likely they are to do it
What is Perceive Behaviour Control? (PBC)
How much control we believe we have over changing out behaviour
What is the strength?
Has research support from “Hagger et al” as it found the three key sources predicted intentions of drinking
What is the weakness?
Has little support as “Louis et al” found the three key sources didn’t change eating behaviours, so it is incomplete
