What is Skills Training?
Helping people cope in situations that link to their addiction by learning skills
How does learning skills in Skills Training help the client?
They gain self-efficacy when they get better at skills they learn, which acts as mastery experiences.
What is “Assertiveness Training” in Skills Training?
A type of training that helps a client cope in conflicts in a controlled and rational way by avoiding confrontation.
It helps avoid arguments from occuring.
How does Anger Management work in Skills Training?
Involves doing activities such as rage rooms, drawing and painting.
Some people find it hard to control their anger due to childhood experiences that led to their addiction. This training helps them express their emotions more constructively.
What are the two definitions of SST?
Social Skills Training - Clients benefit from developing skills that help them cope with anxiety, people such as gamers lacking these skills. It helps on improving skills that help with social skills, and to avoid cravings that cause relapse.
Skills Training Techniques - Techniques that help to develop skills in the real world. Such as Group Discussions, Roleplay, Homework and Visualisation.
What is the strength of Skills Training?
It is very accessible to a wide range of people, from different ages for example. This is because there is a wide range of skills that can be learnt, which can adapt to the person learning it.
