Q

What are the stages of CBT?

A

Functional Analysis - Client’s irrational thoughts are identified, with a journal being provided to keep track of future progress.

Cognitive Restructuring - A Rational thought is built up, with the therapist asking for evidence of an irrational thought (so the Rational thought goes against it).

Behavioural Change - Homework tasks are set to create a behavioural change.

Relapse Prevention - Client is taught how to prevent relapse, which overall restructures thoughts to ignore previous irrational thought.

Q

What is the strength of CBT?

A

Zero side-effects means that it’s harder for CBT to hold back clients.

They won’t have a desire not to do it because of this, or quit.

Q

What is the weakness of CBT?

A

Very demanding, so it’d harder to keep up with. If a client is already stressed, this could simply make them more stressed due to the HW tasks.
