Q

why is exclusivism rooted in Augustinian theology?

A

For him, Post-lapserian theology teaches that humans are ontologically sinful and cannot change this through good works.
This sinful nature means nobody can attain salvation it can only be offered through the grace of God
To receive Gods grace a person must accept Jesus’ sacrifice as an atonement for sin , this requires a person having faith in Christ
redemption is only possible because of Gods love not human merit

Q

why is belief in Jesus necessary for salvation, for exclucivists?

A

Jesus who is the incarnation of God, homoosius with the father, this unique intimate relationship with man allows Christians to have exclusive true knowledge of God and access to salvation.
Jesus is sinless due to virgin birth allowing him to take on sin, becoming the vehicle for humans to receive Gods grace and salvation. Grace is necessary for salvation since humans are ontollogically sinful.
