long bones
are longer in length than they are wide and work as levers to produce movement.
short bones
are box shaped as they are as wide as they are long and they are designed for strength, to bear weight and absorb shock.
flat bones
are normally flat, thin and curved. They are a source of protection and also provide a large area for muscles to attach to.
irregular bones
are bones that don’t fit the description of the other three types. They are also used for protection and muscle attachment.
fibrous joints
are fixed and immovable and these bones cannot move at all and found in the cranium
cartilaginous joints
are slightly movable
