what is an observational study?
- Correlations can be observed, cause and effect CANNOT be determined
- Ex. cohort studies and case control studies
what are interventional studies?
uses an experimental group as compared to a control (placebo) group to determine cause or effect
A randomized control trials (RCT) is the gold standard of interventional studies
what is a retrospective study?
where you know the outcome but are looking back to find a possible cause
what is a prospective study?
where you dont know the outcome yet and are looking fowardto see the outcomes
