Grossman (2002)
The quality of infant’s attachments with mothers affects children’s relationships in adolescence (suggests mother plays a more significant role.
Extra
The same researchers did find that the quality of father’s play did affect their child’s attachment in adolescents (socialisation).
-Fathers who were primary caregivers were just as nurturing as mothers who were primary care givers. However, fathers who were secondary caregivers were less nurturing.
Evaluation weakness: inconsistent findings
difficult to work out the precise role of the father.
Evaluation weakness: Same sex/single parents
they produce children that are no less well developed.
