Steep sides, V shaped valley, narrow and shallow channel

Gently sloping valley sides, wider and deeper Chanel

Very wide, almost flat valley, very wide and deep channel

A
Deepens the river valley and channel making it v shaped
Mainly in upper course

A
This widens the river valley and Chanel and is dominant in lower and middle courses
