French colonel who was George Washington’s right-hand man and helped train the Continental Army. Washington saw him as a son.

Polish general who trained the Continental Army’s cavalry.

A Patriot Native American fighter who defeated Br. Henry “the Hair Buyer” Hamilton on the frontier

General William Howe
The commander in chief from 1775 to 1778. He was a British general that took NYC & Philly and was fired after the Battle of Saratoga
General Henry Clinton
The commander in chief from 1778 to 1782. He was a British general that took over for Howe. His focus was on the “Southern Strategy”
General John Burgoyne
A British general who surrendered at Saratoga and was also known as “Gentleman Johnnie.”
Southern Strategy
It was a British strategy that was adopted in 1778 to focus on the richer colonies of the South & to unite Loyalist support. Most Loyalist support was in the South because plantation owners needed British trade.
