9 million, the most than any other war in history. This is due to the creation of new weapons

Tanks, poison gas, flamethrowers
What weapons did Germany create or use?
Bomber and fighter planes, U-boats/subs, poison gas, flamethrowers, machine guns and long-range artillery

Why couldn’t A-H declare war on Serbia immediately?
Russia was protecting Serbia because they were also Slavic
What were the “Willy-Nicky” letters?
Correspondence between Wilhelm II and Nicholas II as they tried to figure out how to avoid war. Miscommunication arose due to these letters, though, and Germany gave A-H permission to attack Serbia.
Why didn’t Italy aid Germany and A-H against Serbia?
italy had signed a mutually defensive alliance, meaning they would only fight with Germany and A-H if they were attacked first.
What was Britain’s first act against Germany?
A blockade on the German Coast, starving and depriving Germans of food and materials.
What did Germany do in response to Britain’s blockade?
Unrestricted sub warfare
How did Germany deal with the two-front war?
Germany focused most of their manpower on their Eastern front against France, where most of the destruction happened. For their Western front against Russia, they only sent just enough to hold off the army and sent Vladimir Lenin to start a revolution in Russia.
What happened to the RMS Lusitania in 1915?
Germany sank the ship due to it carrying supplies for the war, killing 100 Americans.
What was America’s stance on the war?
They were neutral but their banks were loaning money to the British.
