The parasympathetic nervous system Flashcards
What is the pre and post ganglionic nuerotransmitter
ACETYLCHOLINE
it is also post ganglionic
What is the post ganglionc receptor ?
Postganglionic: muscarinic acetylcholine receptor (mAChR)
G-protein coupled receptors.
What is the preganglionic receptor ?
Preganglionic: nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR)
Ligand-gated ion channels
M1 receptors
What it is and what it does ?
Gq protein coupled: PLC → DAG & IP3 → ↑[Ca2+]
Located: CNS, GI tract, salivary & lachrymal glands
CNS excitation Gastric secretion
M2 receptors
Gi protein coupled: ↓AC → ↓cAMP → (↓[Ca2+]i)
Located: CNS, Heart
Cardiac inhibition
CNS inhibition (inc. tremor, hypothermia )
DECREASE HEART RATE
M3 receptors
Gq protein coupled: PLC → DAG & IP3 → ↑[Ca2+]
Located: Exocrine glands: GI & salivary, smooth muscle, GI tract, eye, lungs, bladder, blood vessels
Gastric & salivary secretion, GI smooth muscle contraction, ocular accommodation, vasodilation, bronchoconstriction, bladder contraction
ITS IN A LOT OF PLACES !!
