What does FLACC stand for?
Face, Legs, Activity, Cry, consolability scale
What is the FLACC scale?
A measurement used to assess pain in children up to the age of 7 years, or individuals who are unable to communicate their pain
How is the FLACC scale scored?
A range of 0-10 with 0 representing no pain
The scale has five criteria which are each assigned a score of 0, 1 or 2
When looking at the criteria face, what would score 0 on the FLACC scale?
No particular expression or smile
When looking at the criteria legs, what would score 0 on the FLACC scale?
Normal position or relaxed
When looking at the criteria activity, what would score 0 on the FLACC scale?
Lying quietly, normal position, moves easily
When looking at the criteria cry, what would score 0 on the FLACC scale?
No cry (awake or asleep)

Content, relaxed
