Severe (ineffective cough).
Mild (effective cough).

What should you do with a patient with a mild airway obstruction?
A
Encourage cough.
Continue to check for deterioration to ineffective cough or until obstruction relieved.

What should you do with a patient with a severe airway obstruction?
A
Conscious : 5 back blows, 5 abdominal thrusts.
Unconscious : start CPR
