What is the endocrine system?
The endocrine system is a collection of glands that produce hormones that: regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep and mood, among other things.
Homorones: Chemical messengers released into the bloodstream influencing the activity of the muscles and organs.
pineal gland descripton?
The pineal gland is located in the brain above the brain stem.
It is involved in several biological rhythms.
Secretes melatonin, which regulates our sleep-wake cycle in response to changes in light
pituitary gland description
The pituitary gland is located in the brain, below the hypothalamus.
It is considered the master gland.
Influences all other hormone-secreting glands.
secretes growth hormone.
controls the levels of salt and water in our system.
Thyroid gland description
the thyroid gland is Located inside Neck
regulates metabolism (burning of energy) by secreting thryroxin
regulates growth
adrenal glands description
The adrenal glands are located on top of each kidney.
the adrenal glands generally are what cause “adrenaline” which is our response to stress.
Pancreas description
Located near the kidneys
controls the levels of sugar in the blood by secreting insulin.
Gonads description
the gonads are the sex glands which include the ovaries and testicles. They secretes hormones that regulate sexual development, behavior and reproduction.
General adaptation syndrome reactions and a description of them.

Adrenal glands releasing hormones that increase heartrate, blood pressure, supply of blood sugar. Resulting in a burst of energy - Resistance:
When the body settles into sympathetic division activity, continuing to release stress hormones. - Exhaustion:
Body’s resources are gone
How does the immune system work?
The immune system is a system of cells organs and chemicals that respond to attacks on the body whether it be from injuries or diseases or sickness.
The immune system is affected by stress.
Hormones help the immune system fight stress.
