Describe in detail the large intestine and the part it plays in the digestive system..

• on reaching the end of the small intestine pretty much all that remains in the waste - this includes cellulose, other indigestible remains, water, bacteria and cells lost from the lining of the gut - the first part of the large intestine (the colon) absorbs any remaining water - this leaves a semi-solid waste called faeces - this is stored in the rectum and expelled from the body via the anus - this process is called “egestion”
