What does it mean when a plant leaf is ‘de-starched’?
A
It is the process of eliminating starch reserves in a plant for experiments concerning photosynthesis. This is done by leaving the plant subject in a dark place with no light. Due to the lack of photosynthesis able to take place, stored starch is used up, thus the plant is de-starched.
