Q

why do somatic cells undergo cell division?

A

during the cell cycle, somatic cells (body cells) reproduce through controlled growth and division. it is growth, repair (damaged tissues and organs), replacement (dying or dead cells)

Q

key events during prophase (5)

A
  • chromatin condenses into chromosomes
  • two identical sister chromatids are joined together by centromere
  • nuclear membrane breaks down
  • centrioles move to opposite poles of the cell

Q

key events during anaphase (2)

A
