Anatomy - red blood cells

A
  1. Haemoglobin
  2. Do not have a nucleus when mature
  3. No mitochondria
  4. Mature cells cannot divide

Q

Haemoglobin

A
  1. Has a quaternary structure which consists of 2 pairs of different proteins - alpha and beta chains
  2. Red pigment in blood - non protein which contains ion
  3. Globin and iron
  4. Binds to O2 molcules
  5. During breathing oxygen attaches loosely to ion and forms oxyhemoglobin

Q

How red blood cells are produced

A
