The Arm Flashcards
Anterior (Flexor) Compartment includes (3)
• biceps brachii -long head -short head • brachialis • coracobrachialis
Biceps brachii:
Proximal Attachment
-long head:
-short head:
- long head: supraglenoid tubercle of scapula
- short head: coracoid process of scapula
Biceps brachii: Distal Attachment (2)
-radial tuberosity and fascia of forearm via bicipital aponeurosis
Biceps brachii:
Actions (2)
- supinates forearm, when supine will flex forearm
- resists dislocation of shoulder (short head)
Biceps brachii:
Innervation
- musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
Coracobrachialis:
Proximal Attachment
-coracoid process of scapula
Coracobrachialis:
Distal Attachment
-middle 1/3 of medial humeral surface
Coracobrachialis:
Acitons (2)
- flexes & adducts arm at shoulder joint
- resists dislocation of shoulder joint
Coracobrachialis:
Innervation
- musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6, C7)
Brachialis:
Proximal Attachment
-distal ½ of anterior surface of humerus
Brachialis:
Distal Attachment
-coronoid process and tuberosity of ulna
Brachialis:
Actions
-flexes forearm at elbow joint
Brachialis:
Blood Supply
- Brachial artery
Brachialis:
Innervation (2)
- musculocutaneous nerve (C5, C6)
- Lateral portions may receive radial nerve contributions
Posterior (Extensor) Compartment of the arm includes (2)
triceps brachii -long head -lateral head -medial head • anconeus
