Aptitude, Achievement and IQ

IQ test - a way to measure aptitude
Achievement tests - compare scores to norms established for each grade (specific subject)
ADHD
Very attentive, but are usually active to the point where it impairs development
- no biological marker

Comorbid - usually in presence of two or more diseases.
Autism

restricted repetitive patterns of behavior, interest, and activities
- many are gifted
- no really successful treatment

Least restrictive environment LRE - usually means teaching child in a regular classroom
response to intervention RTI - special interventions that are used to help children who demonstrate below average achievement in early grades.
Individual Education plan IEP - a plan discussed with parents to specify educational goals for child.
