19
Q

What are the RAD ALT limits?

A

Surface to 5200’ +/-2 feet or 2% whichever is greater

Also limited to +/-45º pitch or bank

20
Q

What does the MODE button do on the UHF backup control panel?

A

Changes between MAIN and BOTH (receives main only or main+guard)

21
Q

Which button on the stick will change the display from HSI to HSD to SIT?

A

Default Display Switch (castle switch)

22
Q

How do you determine an INTERNAL gage failure has occurred on the EED?

A

FAIL indication

23
Q

What is the indication on the EED if an EXTERNAL or sensor problem occurs?

A

OFF

Except for EGT or RPM which will indicate zero

24
Q

What happens to the HUD when the gear is lowered?

A
HDG changes to the top
TD box (Target Designation) will disappear
AOA staple will appear
VVI will appear left of altimeter
Additional 2.5º pitch down on the ladder
25
Q

Where is the bearing arrow on the HUD?

A

Upper right hand corner

26
Q

What is the number on the HUD between the reference wings and the BRG arrow?

A

The Radial from the waypoint

Located in the upper right corner of the HUD

27
Q

What are the warnings (red)?

A

Boxed and blinking on the HUD
Red on the MFD

4 warnings (in priority order):
FIRE
STALL
ALTITUDE
GEAR
28
Q

Which warnings or cautions do NOT have a tone or voice?

A

NO BREAK X
DESCEND
ALT HOLD

29
Q

In what order do malfunctions appear on the MFD PFL page?

A

In the sequence of appearance

30
Q

If FUEL PRESS light comes on in flight, what altitude should you descend to?

A

Below 25,000
Guaranteed to 6,000
Flameouts have occurred as low at 7,000

31
Q

When should you NOT crossfeed?

A
Boost pump Fail
Indicator Fail
Leak
Low Alt (≤5,000 feet)
Low Fuel
32
Q

When should you crossfeed?

A

Fuel imbalance of 200 lbs or greater

33
Q

What part of the engine receives stage 8 air for anti-ice purposes?

A

Inlet Guide Vanes

Bullet Nose

34
Q

What does a FIRE light indicate?

A

An Overheat or a FIRE

35
Q

What does the variable geometry system do?

A

Adjusts the variable guide vanes and 3rd 4th and 5th stage bleed valves to help prevent compressor stalls

36
Q

While climbing out to the area, you notice your right TACH goes to 0 and right OIL PRESS goes to 0. What is the malfunction?

A

OIL pump shaft has sheared
The oil pump shaft and Tach generator are on the same drive shaft. The T5 Alternator is also on this shaft which causes the nozzle to close to zero and EGT to rise.

37
Q

What does the T5 system do?

A

Cuts in at 97% to reopen the nozzles to regulate temperature through afterburner
The T5 does NOT close the nozzles
If it needs to be reclosed, it is accomplished hydromechanically

38
Q

What are the recommended engine restart parameters?

A

Below 25,000 ft
Minimum 12% RPM
The heart of the restart envelope is 18-20%

39
Q

What is the effect on engine thrust with burner blowout?

A

Engine thrust is reduced when the afterburner is lost

MIL should still be available

40
Q

What hydraulic system needs to be operational to have NWS?

A

Left Utility

Also on this system:
Flight Controls
Aug System (YSAS)
NWS
Gear
Speed Brake
41
Q

What are the indications of a Flap Slab failure with the flaps extended in flight?

A

An abrupt and uncommanded pitch up

42
Q

What are the indications of a Flap Slab fail during takeoff?

A

Light than normal stick forces and less stick travel for rotation

43
Q

What activates the gear warning system?

A

At or below 10,000
At or below 210 KCAS
Both throttles below 96%

44
Q

What do you lose if you RAM DUMP?

A

Canopy Seal
G-Suit
Air Conditioning
Pressurization

(Do not lose Anti-Ice nor Hydraulic Reservoir pressurization)

45
Q

What happens to the Environmental/Pressurization System if you lose right AC Bus?

A

Nothing is lost but the position of the RAM DUMP switch and Temperature Rheostat will have no effect if changed.

46
Q

If level at 17,000 feet, what would the cabin pressure be?

A

8000 +/-1000’

47
Q

What would the cabin pressure be at 25,000 ft?

A

9,500 +/-2000

Above 23,000, subtract 6,000’ and divide by 2
