Synovial Joints and Muscle Action Flashcards
What is muscle?
An organ is comprised of muscle tissues, enabling contraction to affect movement or locomotion.
What is the Synovial fluid?
Synovial fluid is a viscous fluid found in the cavities of synovial joints. The role of it is to reduce friction between the cartilage of synovial joints during movement and to absorb shocks.
What is the Synovial membrane?
The Synovial membrane is a specialised connective tissue, that lines the inner surface of capsules of synovial joints.
What is the Tendon?
The Tendon is a flexible elastic cord of strong fibrous collagen tissue, that attaches muscle to the bone.
What is the ligament?
The Ligament is a short band of tough, flexible fibrous connective tissue, that connects two bones or cartilages or holds together a joint.
What is Cartilage?
Cartiliage is a connective tissue found in many parts of the body. It acts as a cushion between the bones of joints.
What is Bone?
Bone is a dense, semirigid, porous and calcified connective tissue, that forms a major portion of the skeleton. It provides protection for vital organs and support for the body.
