What are the manifestations of fainting?
Fainting is manifested by sudden fainting, pallor, cold limbs, and loss of consciousness.
What are common causes of fainting?
Fainting often results from emotional excitement, fright, debilitation, or overstraining.
What does western medicine associate with fainting?
Western medicine frequently sees fainting in cases of transient ischemic attacks, postural hypotension, hypoglycemia, and hysteria.
What is the deficiency type that causes fainting?
Fainting of this type is often caused by Qi Xu and failure of clear Yang in ascending due to over strain or grief and fright, or by exhaustion of qi after profuse bleeding.
What is excess type primarily due to?
It is mainly due to emotional disturbances, such as anger, fear, and fright, leading to an upsurge of LR Yang or abnormal Qi dynamic flow
What happens to qi during excess type?
Qi rushes upwards to the heart and chest, blocking the windpipe and disturbing the mind.
What can cause disturbance of the mind in excess type?
It can be due to upsurging of liver yang and upward flowing of qi followed by perversion of blood flow after a fit of anger.
What is a potential result of excess type?
It can lead to disturbance of the mind and result in loss of consciousness.
What are the main manifestations of deficiency syndrome?
Feeble breathing with mouth agape, spontaneous sweating, pallor, cold limbs, may look like extreme Blood Xu or Qi Collapse

Coarse breathing, rigid limbs, clenched jaws, P: Deep + Excessive
What is the similarity of Fainting, Wind-Stroke and Epilespy?
All 3 have a symptom of loss of consciousness
How to differentiate fainting from wind-stroke?
Wind stroke is characterized by loss of consciousness, with hemiplegia, and a deviated mouth.
What are the symptoms of epilepsy to differentiate fainting?
In epilepsy, loss of consciousness is accompanied by convulsions, expectoration of frothy saliva, or yelling.
